PoE Board 802.3af At RDK X5

This PoE expansion board extends the D-Robotics RDK X5 motherboard with native IEEE 802.3af/at Power over Ethernet capability. It connects directly to the 40-pin GPIO header and draws power and data from a single Ethernet cable connected to a compliant switch or injector. Input voltage range is 38–57V DC, conforming to both 802.3af (Class 3) and 802.3at (Class 4) specifications. Output capabilities include 5V/4.5A via GPIO and 12V/2A via the 2-pin terminal — sufficient to run the RDK X5 and common add-ons. A fully isolated switch-mode power supply (SMPS) ensures galvanic separation and stable regulation, while thermal management is handled by an onboard high-speed fan and bonded metal heat sink. The black PCB construction follows industry-standard layout rules for noise immunity and current handling. Cosmetic variances (e.g., silkscreen position or coating sheen) may differ across production runs but are unrelated to performance, durability or compliance. This module does not require user calibration, firmware flashing or network configuration — it works out-of-the-box as soon as powered. Targeted at engineers building compact, field-ready systems — including inspection robots, IoT gateways, and portable AI workstations — where reliability, modularity and minimal external dependencies define success.
