XL6009 Dual-Mode Buck-Boost Module

This XL6009-based power module operates in both buck (step-down) and boost (step-up) modes without isolation, offering versatile DC-DC conversion in a single compact unit. Input voltage range is 5–32 V; output is continuously adjustable from 1.25 V to 35 V using the onboard potentiometer. Rated for up to 4 A input current and 1.5 A maximum output current, it delivers up to 20 W with natural cooling and 25 W when paired with a heatsink. Its metal enclosure enhances thermal performance, while the 400 kHz fixed switching frequency ensures low-noise operation and smaller external component sizing. Electrical stability is reinforced by ±0.5% load and voltage regulation, 30 mV output ripple (measured at 12 V in, 24 V/0.5 A out), and fast 200 µs transient recovery. The module includes an enable control pin (TTL-compatible logic levels) but no built-in short-circuit or reverse-polarity protection — external fusing or diode protection is required. Mounting is secured via two 3 mm screw holes; connections are made through solderable through-hole pins for robust PCB integration. Suitable for field-deployed systems including mobile diagnostics equipment, off-grid solar charge controllers, and portable test instrumentation.
