WS1850S-Based Mini RFID Sensor 13.56MHz

A purpose-built, minimal-footprint RFID sensor module centred on the WS1850S IC. Physical dimensions: 48 mm × 24 mm × 8 mm. Enclosure material: ABS. Operational frequency: 13.56 MHz. Protocol support: ISO14443A only — no backward compatibility with legacy 125 kHz formats. I2C interface offers two speed tiers: fast mode (400 Kbit/s) and high-speed mode (3400 Kbit/s), configured via software registers. Input buffer: 64 bytes. Reading distance is consistently under 20 mm — determined by antenna geometry and environmental coupling, not variable firmware tuning. Temperature tolerance: -20°C to +85°C. Non-volatile storage maintains settings for up to 10 years. Mounting: two 2.0 mm holes spaced 36 mm apart (centre-to-centre), compatible with M2 screws. Development environment: fully supported in UIFlow, including drag-and-drop Blockly and MicroPython — no drivers or OS dependencies required. Intended for OEM integration only; no onboard voltage regulation, LED indicators or user-facing interfaces. Deployed successfully in UK-focused applications: retrofit smart locks for Build-to-Rent schemes, driver authentication units in last-mile delivery vans, contactless validation points at regional rail stations, and automated textbook circulation in Further Education colleges — all benefiting from its predictable performance, compactness and regional protocol fidelity.
