Visual Astronomy Contrast Filter Set

A practical 2-filter solution for UK-based amateur astronomers seeking improved visual detail on the Moon, planets, and select deep-sky objects. These 1.25-inch colour filters feature 30 mm optical glass elements secured in precision-machined metal cells. They attach directly to the eyepiece barrel using standard M28.5×0.6 threading — compatible with virtually all entry-level and mid-range telescopes available in the UK market. The filters are selected from six spectral options: green, blue, red, yellow, purple, and black — each chosen for its documented effect on specific targets: blue enhances lunar rilles and Saturn’s atmosphere; red improves Mars’ surface contrast; yellow cuts through atmospheric shimmer when viewing Jupiter near the horizon. Their combined effect is reduced glare, heightened contrast, and greater surface definition — all achieved through passive, maintenance-free optical filtering.
