PCA9685 16-Channel Servo Driver 12-Bit I2C PWM Controller Module

The PCA9685 16-channel servo driver brings precise 12-bit PWM control to your electronics projects, with a Fast Mode Plus compatible I2C bus interface capable of driving high-capacitance loads. Each of the 16 channels delivers 4096 linear brightness steps, from fully off to maximum output, giving you fine-grained control over connected servos and LEDs. Output Configuration and Control The module offers flexible output programming to suit different applications. You can configure the initial state to update all outputs simultaneously or byte by byte when responding to a command or stop instruction, with the default set to respond to stop commands. The low-active output enable input pin allows you to program LED outputs to 0, 1, or high impedance when the pin is held high, defaulting to high impedance at power-on. Each of the 16 push-pull outputs can sink 25 mA and source 10 mA at 5 V, and can be software-configured as open-drain LED outputs if required, with push-pull as the default setting. The SDA line provides 30 mA drive capability, ensuring reliable communication even with substantial capacitive loading on the bus. Practical Applications This driver is well suited to multi-servo control systems, LED dimming arrays, and other projects requiring simultaneous, precise output timing. The I2C interface keeps wiring simple, while the programmable output states and brightness levels give you the flexibility to adapt the module to your specific control requirements.
