This M42 macro extension tube set comprises three precision-machined metal tubes: 7mm, 14mm, and 28mm in height. Total weight and dimensions are optimised for secure mounting between M42-mount lenses and SLR camera bodies. Constructed entirely from durable metal, the set enables true close-up photography by increasing the lens-to-sensor distance — no optical elements are included, ensuring zero image degradation. Each tube maintains full mechanical compatibility with manual-focus M42 lenses. When used with a standard 50mm lens, combinations (e.g., 7+14+28 = 49mm) achieve up to 1:1 magnification, calculated as extension length ÷ focal length. The system requires full manual operation: manual focus, manual aperture setting (aperture must be pre-set on lenses without physical aperture rings), and manual exposure control. Optimal use occurs at very short working distances — typically just a few centimeters between front lens element and subject — making it ideal for detailed local macro work such as botanical specimens, coin documentation, or small-component inspection.
