Lightweight Map Reading Compass

Measuring 11.5 x 5.7 cm and built from sturdy acrylic, this compass balances compact portability with field durability — resistant to bending, cracking, or fogging under typical UK weather exposure. Its calibrated magnetic needle aligns precisely with north, supported by a distinct index line and directional arrow for intuitive bearing acquisition. The integrated 1:25,000 scale enables direct measurement on standard UK OS Explorer maps, simplifying route planning and distance estimation. A detachable lanyard provides secure, hands-free carry options without adding bulk. Suitable for all core outdoor pursuits including hillwalking, trail running, geocaching, backpacking, and winter navigation where reliability and ease of use are essential.
