Leather Sax Ligature Bakelite Cap

A purpose-built two-piece saxophone protection system comprising a hand-cut leather ligature and a precision-fitted Bakelite mouthpiece cap with integrated reed-holding clip. The ligature uses full-grain leather (approx. 1.2 mm thick) stitched with reinforced nylon thread for tensile strength; the cap is injection-moulded from authentic Bakelite compound, known for dimensional stability and surface hardness (Shore D 95+). Designed for alto and tenor saxophone mouthpieces with standard 24–26 mm tip openings, it accommodates most hard rubber and metal mouthpieces without modification. Total weight is 28 g; maximum profile height when capped is 3.2 cm. Performance-tested for repeated installation cycles: ligature maintains clamping force after 500+ reed changes; cap retains secure fit after 1,000+ clip engagements. Used exclusively off-instrument — the ligature stays on the mouthpiece during handling, and the cap engages only when the mouthpiece is detached.
