Some patients are "difficult sticks," their veins being either very small or deep, preventing healthcare professionals from finding a site easily and quickly. Repeated needle sticks are painful for the patient and can also diminish their confidence in the phlebotomist's ability to perform the stick. While this device helps you easily find veins for smaller clinics or facilities, even for collectors and hobbyists, it is suitable for most people to find veins with minimal sticks. How to use: Step 1: Minimize the light. A dark room will show the best results. Press the button on the underside of the device to turn on the infrared LED. Step 2: Gently press the skin with hand pressure and slowly move the device from one side to the other. Veins will appear as shadows or dark lines that will appear in the periphery of the device that is shining red. Note: The device must be in contact with the skin when looking for veins. Taking the light off the skin will show nothing. Step 3: Once the vein is found (dark shadows/lines), move the infrared light around this area to gain the best visual acuity. If the vein is shallower to the surface, the light source may need to be moved further away as it may be too bright and cover the vein. It is best to follow the vein path so you have a complete visual size and direction. Note: It is best to find a vein that follows a straight path.
