FSR402 Thin Film Force Sensitive Resistor

The FSR402 is an ultra-thin, lightweight resistive pressure sensor built on flexible thin-film technology. Its active sensing area measures 0.5 inches in diameter and outputs a resistance signal that decreases predictably as applied force increases—from open-circuit level at 0 g up to full-scale response at 10 kg. The sensor combines plastic and metal materials for mechanical resilience and stable electrical behaviour. Rated for over 10 million operational cycles, it is purpose-built for non-critical, high-cycle applications where qualitative pressure feedback suffices—such as detecting ground contact in walking robots, monitoring hand-held object presence in grippers, or recording relative bite intensity in biological studies. Not intended for calibrated force measurement due to inherent nonlinearity and unit-to-unit variation.
