A specialised USB software-defined radio receiver built on the RTL2832U platform, engineered for dependable ADS-B and Mode-S aircraft signal capture at 1090 MHz. Compact metal body (blue, ~7.5 cm long, 42 g), featuring a built-in 19 dB RF amplifier (0.4 dB noise figure, OIP3 +39 dBm), 1075–1105 MHz bandpass filter, and TCXO (1–2 ppm). Operates from 0.1 MHz to 1.7 GHz but performs best within the ADS-B band. Uses a native SMA-F connector — no adapters — and is powered solely via USB. Best deployed in urban or semi-urban UK locations with known RF activity; filtering provides diminishing returns — or slight penalty — in very quiet rural zones.
