They feature standard radial lead construction and aluminium electrolyte chemistry, suited for DC filtering, energy storage, and smoothing in high-fidelity amplifier power supplies. Tolerances include ±1–3 mm dimensional variance due to manual measurement — always confirm mechanical fit prior to mounting. Colour representation in listings may differ slightly from actual units due to display calibration variances. Electrolytic capacitors that remain unused for 2–3 months or longer require reforming before being subjected to full rated voltage. The recommended method applies 50V for 10–15 minutes, then increments voltage by 20V every 4–5 minutes until reaching 500V. A 100kΩ 5W resistor must be connected in series during this process to limit inrush current and prevent damage. Measuring voltage across this resistor provides insight into real-time leakage behaviour.
