Approximately 20 cm long and 13 cm wide, this strandbeest model reaches 11 cm in height at its rear and extends to 17 cm with the propeller fully upright. Made from durable hard plastic and natural wood, it merges durability with visual warmth. It is a direct interpretation of Theo Jansen’s Animaris Ordis Parvus — a pioneering wind-powered walking machine. Movement occurs purely through wind-induced rotation of the central propeller, which transfers motion via interconnected levers to six coordinated legs. Gentle blowing or light breezes initiate walking; stronger gusts trigger automatic pause, and proximity to water causes gentle turning — all governed by passive mechanics. Designed for thoughtful assembly and lasting exploration, it supports curiosity-driven learning far beyond first-time build completion.
