It uses a built-in 9:1 voltage balun that matches your 50 ohm unbalanced impedance input to a long 450 ohm unbalanced lead. The Elecraft KX-2, KX-3, IC-703 auto tuners and our Multi Z Tuner manual have all been tested and work great. The antenna is most efficient at 20m and will be a less efficient S unit at the 40m and 10m ends. You use a length of non-resonant wire for the driven element, usually 41', 35.5', or 29', and possibly a 1/4 wire for a counterweight, a 35' counterweight works for all bands .
