4 Inch Swivel Caster With Spring Load

This 4-inch heavy-duty swivel caster is purpose-built for demanding gate applications across UK domestic and light commercial settings. The wheel is made from high-rebound polyurethane (PU), offering superior abrasion resistance and silent rolling. The internal structure combines hardened steel axle components, zinc-plated yoke, and a progressive-rate compression spring rated for repeated 220 lbs (100 kg) loading cycles. Total height is approx. 140 mm; wheel width is 32 mm; mounting plate thickness is 4 mm with two M6-compatible holes. Compatible with both softwood and hardwood gates, as well as galvanised steel or aluminium tubular frames. The spring mechanism compresses smoothly under load and rebounds fully when unloaded — maintaining consistent ground clearance and eliminating the ‘rocking’ effect seen with non-sprung casters on undulating surfaces. The PU tread does not mark paving stones, blockwork, or asphalt, and retains traction even when damp — critical for safety in frequently wet UK conditions. Commonly used on swing gates for detached homes, village hall entrances, stable yard access, and recycling centre barriers — anywhere gate reliability, user accessibility, and surface protection are prioritised over cost-cutting hardware.
