3-Channel Isolated Relay HAT Pi

Compact at 65 mm × 56.5 mm × 18 mm and lightweight (35 g), this relay HAT features a gold-plated 40-pin GPIO header compatible with Raspberry Pi 4B, 3B+, 3B, and 2B+. It houses three high-reliability relays rated for 5A / 250V AC and 5A / 30V DC. Each channel includes opto-isolation, status LED, and jumper-selectable trigger mode. The PCB uses FR-4 substrate with 2 oz copper for improved current handling and EMI resilience. Unlike generic relay modules, this board routes GPIO signals through dedicated current-limiting resistors and TVS diodes—suppressing transient spikes from inductive kickback. Load-side terminals are spaced to meet UK wiring clearance standards (>3 mm between live/neutral), and the board complies with RoHS and REACH directives. It supports both 3.3V and 5V logic inputs depending on jumper setting, accommodating older Pi revisions or mixed-voltage projects. Deployed across UK schools and maker spaces, it serves as a safe, repeatable platform for teaching IoT principles—from basic button-triggered lamp control to MQTT-integrated weather station alerts—while maintaining alignment with national curriculum electronics guidelines.
