15 Ohm 3-Pin Refrigerator Relay

Size: 32.2 mm long × 28.8 mm wide × 21.5 mm high. Weight approx. 18 g. Terminal type: solderable 3-pin layout with 2.8 mm pin spacing. Cold resistance: 15 ohm measured at 25°C prior to energisation. Core component: sintered ceramic PTC thermistor element encapsulated within thermally conductive plastic housing. Starts compressor motors safely and efficiently by leveraging inherent PTC properties: low initial resistance allows full auxiliary winding current, generating torque to overcome inertia and compression load. As current flows, the PTC heats up — its resistance rises exponentially until it effectively blocks further current flow to the start winding. This autonomous cut-off occurs without sensors, timers, or external logic — making it robust, simple, and field-proven. Suitable for repair and maintenance of household refrigerators sold in the UK and across Europe. Common applications include top-freezer, bottom-freezer, and French-door models where the original starter relay uses a 3-pin, non-reversible, self-resetting PTC configuration — especially those originally fitted with Klixon, Danfoss, or Embraco-specified units.
